How should I wire up the ground when using an aftermarket fuel pump hanger?

I have a question for you guys, so I’m doing a k20a2 swap on my 99 ek Civic, and I got your guy's fuel pump (335) all setup, and I am running an aftermarket hanger kit that converts to AN fittings. So I have the plug hooked up to the pump and the red and black wires coming out. Can I splice both ground wires together outside the tank and run an exterior ground, or do I need ground on the outside and inside of the tank like the factory setup?
